Understanding email errors in message reports

What do the errors mean when viewing in email reports?

When you send a communication from SchoolNow, you can review a report of the message to understand what happened to email messages when they were sent or attempted to be sent.

 

Dropped means we it had error before and so it was added to a suppression list. 

  • If an email is added to the suppression list, send grid doesn’t even attempt to send it out again.
  • Often someone might report they didn't get an email communication.
  • Contact support and provide the email address to allow us to check for you.

Bounced

  • Not on suppression list yet and email was sent, however;
  • It failed due to a number of reasons (Click the status in the logs to get more info. See screenshot below.)
  • Soft bounces - Email made it to the email server, but box was full, or some temporary issue.
  • Hard bounce - Sent to email server… and server responded box never exists, or (added to suppression list)

System Error

  • Could be a mal-formatted email.
  • Contact SN support.
