      Accessibility videos for users of Assistive Technology

      Rob Dodson over at Google Chrome Developers is teaching fundamentals in his new series dedicated entirely to the art of accessibility on his A11ycasts YouTube Channel. Geared more towards teaching developers how accessibility works while also demonstrating real-world accessibility problems, the videos we have linked below are super helpful to those using assistive technology... or need help using assistive technology such as screen readers for computers and mobile devices.

      • Screen Reader Basics: NVDA - If you're on a Windows machine and would like to get started with screen readers, NVDA is a great option. In this episode, Rob covers the basics of navigating a page with NVDA, and share some useful keyboard shortcuts to make you more efficient.
      • Assistive Tech: TalkBack - Today we start our miniseries on different kinds of assistive technology. The whole goal of accessibility is making sure as many people as possible can access the content of your site or application, using the tools that make them feel the most productive. There are so many different tools, and as a developer in can be overwhelming to figure out how to support them all.
      • Assistive Tech: VoiceOver on iOS - In this episode, we'll be looking at VoiceOver, the screen reader built into iOS. Like TalkBack for Android, VoiceOver uses gestures to move screen reader focus around the page. It's very easy to get started, but there are a few gotchas to watch out for, which we'll highlight in the episode.
      • Assistive Tech: Switch Device - Switch Access lets anyone with limited dexterity control their phone or computer. If you're building a mobile site, it's important to understand how switch device users will access your content.
