It is easy to link to files in SchoolStatus. Below, you will find the instructions on creating a link in the Side Navigation and all of the widgets.
Side Navigation
To create a link in the Navigation Editor, so it opens either a pdf or an external website, click on Add Menu Item followed by Link. Fill out the Label field with what you would like it to read in the side navigation and then Browse Files if you would like to link to a file. Navigate to the file you would like to link to or upload the file from your computer. Select the file by clicking on the plus sign to the right of the file name. If it is an external website, enter the URL in the URL field.
While creating/editing the navigation element, click on the Advanced tab button in the top menu and change the target to New Window (_blank), followed by Create. You will be taken back to the Navigation Editor, where you will need to click on the green Save in the upper right-hand corner.
Widgets
For most widgets, you can easily link to a file while editing the widget by selecting Browse Files. Then navigate to the proper directory followed by the folder where it is located and select the file. If the file needs to be uploaded, you can upload it and then select the file after it is uploaded.
For the TEXT widget, you will need to select the text or photo that you would like to be a link. Click the Link button (located in the second row) and select Browse Files and navigate to the proper directory followed by the folder where it is located. If the file needs to be uploaded, you can do it here. Keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + L
Please remember to change the Target of the link to New Window so that visitors are not taken away from the page. This can be done in either the Target field or tab (TEXT widget) in the widgets.
